Due to a deep cavity or trauma, a tooth nerve inflammation can occur. It is then necessary to remove the nerve and process the root canal (perform an endotherapy). If this is not done, the infection can spread to the area around the root (periapical area). Such a progressed infection can develop granulomas. In the past, teeth would be removed when there was a nerve infection, today with the implementation of endodontic therapy to the root canal, it is no longer necessary.
