Botox

Botox is a protein derived from the bacteria Clostridium botulinum and its application in medicine has been lasting well over a decade. It is most recently used in aesthetic medicine. Botox is safe for use and it breaks down in the muscle through four months and then the procedure needs to be repeated.

How does Botox function?

Botox is one of the most popular aesthetic facial treatments, it’s applied to the facial muscles with thin needles, temporarily paralyzing them. In this way, the muscles do not potentiate the formation of wrinkles for a period of 3 to 4 months. It is most frequently used in the upper third of the face (forehead, around the eyes and between the eyebrows), application to the lower part of the face is not recommended, but rather hyaluronic dermal fillers are used there.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is a component of the skin, but with age there is a decrease in the amount of collagen, a loss of water, and therefore a reduction in the amount of hyaluronic acid. Therefore, a “rejuvenation” of the skin can be achieved by application of fillers in certain areas of the face
Hyaluronic dermal fillers are used in all regions of the face, although Botox gives better results in the upper regions of the face (forehead, eye area, between the eyebrows).

Where are the fillers used?

The most common application is for nasolabial wrinkles, lip enlargement, wrinkles between the eyebrows and forehead, and wrinkles around the eyes. The process of applying the filler is quick and easy, and the results are visible immediately.

PRF in non-invasive facial aesthetics

PRF is a technology that has long been used in medicine (dentistry, orthopaedics, etc.) but more recently it has also been implemented in non-invasive facial aesthetics. A small amount of blood is taken from the patient and placed in a centrifuge with the intent to obtain a certain faction. One faction is PRF – plasma rich in fibrin, growth factors and stem cells. With a local application (needle) of PRF, we achieve better vascularisation and formation of new collagen, which we lost during aging.

The result is skin that looks younger and healthier. The body takes about six months and only then will the results be visible, which is why PRF is often used in combination with a filler where the effect is visible immediately.
